Stone Men
About 30 minutes from the hotel by car
It is said that 270,000 years ago, as a result of one of Aso's eruptions, a volcanic rock was caught between two cliffs. Since then, the stone has not fallen despite subsequent eruptions and earthquakes. There is also a legend that it is a dragon egg laid and dropped there. It is also said that it will prevent you from failing a test because it will not “ochiru” which also means to fail a test in Japanese.

Aso Shrine
About 10 minutes from the hotel by car
Aso Shrine was build to commemorate Takeiwatatsunomikoto, who is the chief god of Aso Shrine, and princess-godess Asotsuhimenomikoto the founder of Aso. Kuninomiyatsukohayamikatamanomikoto and other relatives including other 10 gods are enshrined here as well.
There is a “Wishing Stone”, and Takasago pine tree which are believed to be effective for finding a romantic partner or marriage.

Oshidoishi
About 50 minutes from the hotel by car
There are hundreds of large and small groups of stones, the largest of which is commonly referred to as the "Oshide stone" in the grassy hills of the outer rim of Aso. Among them, petroglyphs have been found on boulders near the peak, an area, which is said to have been a place where a seafaring Sumerian people held festivals.

Nabegataki
About 60 minutes from the hotel by car
Height 9m, width 20m. These falls can be viewed from behind the falling water. The falls, which look like a curtain here are relatively low, and it is possible to go to the opposite bank by walking behind the falls.

Otohime koyasuwara kannon
About 50 minutes from the hotel by car
In the old days, when the Empress Jingu was pregnant with the Emperor ?jin, Takeshiuchinosukune was commanded to pray in this area for a safe delivery.
People who take a stone from here home and sandwich it between their legs are guaranteed to get pregnant. People who want a boy should take a black stone, while people who want girls should take a red stone.
